As Microbiology Analyst, you\'ll form part of the Microbiology team providing vital support to our state-of-the-art clinical trial imaging clinic based at Hammersmith Hospital in West London.
Working across Tuesday - Saturday to support our cleanroom production operation, you\'ll contribute to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Microbiology laboratory by ensuring the highest standards of microbiology quality and safety in product testing and environmental monitoring are upheld.
Underpinned by excellent training and support for development, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to working in a sterile environment within radiopharmaceuticals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Microbiology testing
- Performing in-house microbiological testing (including sterility testing, sample analysis, environmental monitoring, growth promotion and water testing).
- Assisting in the execution of media fills and protocols that require microbiology input.
- Performing the assembly of sterile vials used in PET product manufacture.
- Sanitising cleanroom equipment (e.g. LAF Cabinets, Isolators, water systems etc.)
Data analysis
- Assisting in the analysis and interpretation of microbiological data to identify adverse trends or shifts in the microbial composition of the cleanroom areas (including the generation of data trending reports and presentations).
- Ensuring accurate data input into relevant records / systems.
Training
- Training new members of staff on aseptic gowning and best cleanroom practices.
Quality systems
- Raising and completing change controls and investigations of out of specification (OOS)results, deviations, CAPAs, non-conformances and observations.
- Completing own quality records within a timely manner.
- Updating procedural documents and policies relating to microbiology and sterility assurance.
Method development and validation
- Leading and assisting projects relating to the development, validation and implementation of new microbiological methods, equipment and assays.
- Performing method suitability protocols for the implementation of new products.
- Assisting with performing protocols for the regular requalification of isolator gassing cycles.
Other general functions
- Helping to troubleshoot technical issues with microbiological equipment.
- Ensuring that documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner conforming to GDocP and SOP requirements.
- Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Suggesting improvement opportunities to continuously improve ways of working and safety.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships in the microbiology and wider clinical chemistry team to encourage teamwork and effective working.
- Supporting continuous improvement by identifying problems and anticipating potential issues and suggesting possible root causes and solutions.
- Liaising with and maintaining good relationships with external vendors and testing laboratories.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Technical knowledge/Skills
- Able to demonstrate good time management and self-organisation, prioritising calmly and efficiently and working methodically and purposefully to ensure key processes are adhered to and tasks are completed in accordance with SOPs
- Possesses a good understanding of the principles of aseptic testing and willing to commit to developing one\'s expertise in this area
- Comfortable with documentation and the recording of deviations, etc. with a willingness to contribute to the creation of SOPs, etc.
- Good safety awareness
- Ability to demonstrate integrity, committed to upholding ALCOA+ principles and able to articulate issues or delays in a clear manner
- Computer literate with proficiency in the MS Office suite and - ideally - competent in the use of relevant proprietary systems and software.
- Able to develop and maintain an up-to-date awareness of relevant trends, tools, technology, techniques and processes.
Experience, Education and Certifications
- Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (Microbiology, Chemistry, etc.)
- Previous practical laboratory experience in pharmaceutical microbiology.
- A good understanding of relevant regulations and requirements with previous experience working in a GxP environment
- Fluent English
