This role is being recruited by Calyptus on behalf of one of our clients.

Calyptus is a specialist recruitment partner helping startups and high-growth technology companies hire across engineering, product and design.

  • What to expect
  • We’ll review your application and, if your experience is a strong match, one of our team will be in touch
  • We’ll support you throughout the interview process and keep you updated at each stage
  • If this particular role isn’t the right fit, we may consider you for other relevant opportunities with our clients

We are looking for a product engineer who leads with customers. Half your week is with publishers and brands; the other half is shipping what they need.

You’ll own everything our customers touch: our platform dashboards, onboarding, reporting, and the loop that turns customer feedback into product.

You’ll decide what gets built there, and you’ll build much of it yourself, working agentic-first.

You’ll work closely with our CTO and a Founding Software Engineer, who own the infrastructure, data pipelines and AI side of our product.

Knowing what customers need most, and making our product feel exceptional, is what we’re hiring for.

Our structure is intentionally flat, with influence earned through skill & context.

Our codebase is shared rather than siloed, and we move fluidly across priorities as a team.

We have dozens of agents working alongside us every day, so we go from customer feedback to a shipped change in hours, and learn from it just as quickly.

It’s how a small team builds at the pace of one ten times our size.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You’ve built and shipped software yourself, as an engineer, a design engineer or a founder, and moved towards product because what got built mattered most to you.
  • You care deeply about the end user’s experience. You have a genuine eye for design & product, noticing if padding is off or there are one too many steps in a flow.
  • You’re commercially minded, thinking about what moves revenue rather than what’s interesting to build, with real ease in customer conversations.
  • You come out of a customer call knowing what they need, not just what they asked for.
  • You’re comfortable in a small, high-trust team, happy to pick up whatever’s needed.
  • MUST HAVES
  • 5+ years building and shipping software products, in engineering, design engineering, product or as a founder.
  • You’ve shipped production UI yourself. Not designed it for someone else to build.
  • You work agentic-first. Prototypes, specs and UI changes go from idea to merged code without waiting on an engineer.
  • Genuine opportunities

Every role advertised by Calyptus is a live position we’re actively recruiting for.

Some clients prefer to remain confidential during the early stages of the hiring process.

When that’s the case, certain company details may be shared later in the process.

Why work with Calyptus?

  • Access opportunities with ambitious startups and high-growth technology companies
  • Direct support from experienced specialist recruiters
  • Honest feedback and clear communication throughout the hiring process
  • Long-term career support, not just a single job application

How to prepare for a job interview at Calyptus

✨Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Calyptus uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

✨Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

✨Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
