The Role
We seek an experienced Paraplanner to join our Edinburgh office. This is a key technical role supporting financial planners through high‑quality report writing, research, and compliance‑led documentation. You will play a central part in delivering clear, compliant, and personalised financial planning solutions for our clients. We are a growing team, so you will also play an active role in team building, sharing your expertise and experience and supporting the development of team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Report Writing
- Draft clear, compliant suitability reports and recommendation letters.
- Tailor reports to individual client circumstances, objectives, and risk profiles.
- Ensure documentation meets FCA requirements and internal standards.
- Maintain consistency and clarity across all written client communications.
- Technical Research
- Conduct product, fund, and wrapper research across pensions, investments, protection, and tax planning.
- Analyse client data, financial plans, and portfolio structures to support adviser recommendations.
- Prepare cashflow models and scenario analysis to support financial planning discussions.
- Provide technical insight and commentary to advisers in advance and after client meetings.
- Assist advisers in developing clear, robust planning solutions aligned with client objectives.
- Compliance & Regulation
- Ensure all recommendations meet FCA and internal compliance standards.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory developments and company policies.
- Support audit readiness, file quality, and best practice documentation.
- Support and mentor junior paraplanners and administrative staff.
- Share technical knowledge and report‑writing best practice.
- Contribute to templates, processes, and training materials.
- Work collaboratively with advisers, administrators, and compliance teams.
- Administrative Support
- Provide additional support during periods of high workload or reduced capacity.
- Assist with client file management, provider correspondence, and implementation tasks as required.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong technical knowledge of pensions, investments, protection, and tax planning.
- Good understanding of FCA regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and financial planning software.
- Previous paraplanning or technical support experience within financial services.
- Experience writing compliant suitability reports.
Qualifications
Diploma in Financial Planning or working towards a Level 4 qualification.
