Reporting to: Tank Yard Supervisor

Salary: £29,263 per annum

Breaks: 15-minute morning break, 30-minute lunch (12:30 – 13:30), 10-minute afternoon break

About the Role

We are currently recruiting a Tank Operative to join our Engineering team at our Stoney Stanton site. This is a hands-on, predominantly outdoor role, working as part of a team of multi-skilled operatives responsible for the safe movement, handling, and processing of LPG tanks across the site. Safety is at the heart of everything we do. You’ll play a key role in ensuring LPG vessels are moved, stored, and processed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulations and company standards. Full PPE and Calor warm working attire will be provided.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carrying out all LPG tank movements across the tank yard in line with site transport rules and traffic management plans.
  • Loading, unloading, and safely handling LPG vessels, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Operating machinery and equipment safely in line with manufacturer guidance and Calor work instructions.
  • Segregating tanks and managing general tank storage within the yard.
  • De-hooding, gas-charging, steam cleaning, and preparing LPG vessels for storage, refurbishment, or scrapping.
  • Managing inbound and outbound trailers and directing vehicles to designated bays.
  • Completing trailer load inspections to ensure tank quality, safety, and legislative compliance.
  • Capturing, recording, and tracking LPG vessel serial numbers.
  • Reporting accidents, incidents, near misses, and hazards via the safety management system.
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety, and organisation at all times.
  • Working closely with the Tank Yard Supervisor and fellow operatives to ensure smooth, efficient operations.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:
  • Experience working in an industrial, yard, warehouse, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and compliance.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a physically demanding, outdoor role.
  • Good attention to detail, particularly with record-keeping and asset tracking.
  • Ability to follow work instructions and operate equipment safely.
  • Clear communicator with a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and hold a Counterbalance FLT licence.
Desirable:
  • Experience working with LPG vessels or hazardous materials.
  • Understanding of occupational and process safety.
