Calmworks Studio are embarking on an exciting and ambitious project to bring wearable AI hardware to disabled people who need support with using Public Transport in the UK. Starting with a grant-funded trial, in partnership with National Centre of Accessible Transport (NCAT), Connected Places Catapult and key transport operator and charity partners, we are looking for an experienced research manager to coordinate workshops and help produce the research reports for this initial phase – and hopefully future phases too! This role is about people, organisation and communication. It is not about IT, Agile or data!
As a small team, we now need some help delivering our research programmes and are looking for a confident and organised coordinator to keep things on schedule. Working with regional train and bus operators, charities and local authorities you'll be super organised and happy to get involved in any part of the project - from desk research to designing and running focus groups, working with people to understand their problems, and testing in the real-world. You will be working with vulnerable travellers so a DBS certificate might be required. Initially a 6 month, hybrid role (1-2 days per week with the team or on-site), with a need to travel around the UK, however there is potential for the role to quickly grow into a full time position. Salary £40k to £50k pro-rata per annum.
Core Duties
- Keeping the programme delivery on time, meeting milestones, keeping the team on target
- Researching specific topics and requirements
- Designing, organising and hosting focus groups and assisted trials
- Working with clients and suppliers to deliver everything on time
- Writing up findings and reporting
- Bringing your own ideas to improve our products
- Managing stakeholders and keeping everyone updated.
Vital Experience
You may not have done this exact role before, but you will recognise the core duties as things you're already great at! We value enthusiasm, energy, commitment and independence. Your experience should include:
- Demonstrated strong organisational skills
- Research and problem-solving experience, including written reporting
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Top-notch relationship building skills
- Enthusiasm for making a difference and challenging the status quo
Please include a cover letter if you wish to be considered - we use cover letters to help us understand how you communicate, and how your experience could fit the challenges we face, and as such they are more important to us than your CV.
