The Role
CALMEC is looking for an experienced Service & Maintenance HVAC Engineer to join our growing team.
You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, fault finding, diagnostics and repairs across a variety of HVAC systems. This will include Air Source Heat Pumps, MVHRs, Air Handling Units (AHUs), VRF systems and other commercial air conditioning and ventilation equipment.
Alongside servicing and maintenance, the role will involve carrying out small installation works, including pipework, controls, equipment replacements, modifications and associated systems where required. You will also assist with commissioning activities, system start-up, controls setup and performance testing.

Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair Air Source Heat Pumps and associated systems.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown visits.
- Service and maintain MVHR systems, including filter changes, performance checks and fault finding.
- Maintain and repair Air Handling Units, including filters, belts, controls and associated components.
- Service, maintain and fault-find VRF and other commercial air conditioning systems.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and control-related faults efficiently.
- Carry out commissioning support, including system start-up, controls setup and performance testing.
- Undertake small installation works, including pipework, controls, equipment replacements and system modifications.
- Complete service reports, maintenance records and relevant site documentation accurately.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, professionally and in accordance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent CALMEC positively on site.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a reliable and professional service.
What We're Looking For
Essential requirements
- Experience in HVAC service and maintenance, ideally covering a range of commercial systems.
- Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of air conditioning, ventilation and associated plant.
- A proactive, reliable and professional approach to work.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable experience
- Experience servicing and maintaining Air Source Heat Pumps.
- Knowledge of MVHR systems and Air Handling Units.
- Experience with VRF systems and commercial air conditioning.
- Basic installation experience, including pipework, controls and equipment replacements.
- Experience assisting with commissioning and system performance testing.
- F-Gas qualification (Category 1 preferred).
