About The Role

Responsible for the financial health of the business over a period of sustained and intense growth, you will report directly into the CFO. Commercially focused, you will play a crucial, proactive role in supporting the Senior Team and wider business in driving improvements to enable scaling, controlling resources, providing relevant & timely management information and managing the associated risks.

Responsibilities

  • Business Partnering
    • Support the management team in analysing, understanding and interpreting the operational and financial performance of the business through use of both operational and financial KPIs
    • Champion key business initiatives to underpin growth and performance targets
    • Assist management in deciding effective allocation of resources and return on internal investment
    • Drive improvements to commercial processes and approach
  • Financial Planning and Analysis
    • Co‑ordinate the annual budget process, report actual monthly results, prepare financial forecasts and analyse variances
    • Maintain long‑range business forecast models
  • Operational Finance and Reporting
    • Maintain 13 week cash flow forecast
    • Deliver Month End close to agreed timetable
    • Prepare monthly Management Information
    • Support project managers in achieving/beating performance targets
    • Create quarterly reforecasts
  • Compliance and External Stakeholder Relationships
    • Support year end close, liaising with external advisors as necessary
    • Lead Year end Audit
    • Focus on quality control and policy adherence
    • Ensure compliance with external stakeholder, laws, tax and other legal requirements
  • Team Leadership
    • Day to day team management including resourcing, holiday, and timesheets
    • Set goals supporting company objectives and career progression, conduct regular 1‑1s, and hold quarterly performance reviews
    • Perform other finance related duties as required
  • Health & Safety
    • Lead project teams to ensure project delivery is achieved safely
    • Demonstrate in daily activities a commitment to health and safety in the workplace by always ensuring tasks are performed in the safest possible manner
    • Report all hazards and incidents that the individual is party to, or observes, in the correct manner
    • When required or directed, participate in any health and safety training

Qualifications Skills and Experience

  • Qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA Essential
  • Results driven with a supportive and approachable style of management
  • Energetic personality, driven and people person who thrives in fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication and IT skills with a good knowledge of Excel
  • Exposure to a project management led business an advantage
  • Experience of Accounting Systems Implementation
  • Experience of Stock control

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a SME environment
  • Knowledge and experience of Xero desirable but not essential
  • Defence background is desirable but not essential

Personal Attributes

  • Must be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK
  • Ability to commit to occasional national and international travel
  • A full valid UK driving license
  • Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK
