As a Systems Engineer your role will be to design, develop and test avionic systems engineering outputs for manned and unmanned aircraft. Reporting to the Systems Engineering Manager and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, this exciting role will place the right candidate at the forefront of UAS development in the UK. This will involve all aspects of design, development and test associated with aircraft electronic systems; including flight control, navigation, communication, sensor, payload, aircraft management and ground control systems.
- Design and development of avionics systems for unmanned air systems, including navigation, communication, payloads, aircraft management and command & control (C2) systems.
- Support wider aircraft systems design, such as cabling and loom/wire harness design.
- Support and enable flight test development activities, including field work.
- Develop and maintain test facilities and tools.
- When required or directed, participate in any health and safety training.
- Demonstrable knowledge of systems engineering, preferably in aerospace.
- Knowledge of applied system engineering principles.
- Competent in practical integration tasks either using software or hardware-based rigs.
- Report writing and information dissemination/presentation.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to hold a Security Clearance.
- Design or systems engineering experience in UAS and associated systems.
- Systems engineering experience through the whole lifecycle in an aerospace or related environment.
- Familiarity with common engineering tools, for example DOORS, Solidworks, MATLAB or equivalents.
- Ability to commit to national and international travel.
