In this role of Business Development Campaign Lead you will focus on UAS Deep Effects and be responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities within this area for Callen‑Lenz, playing a key role in shaping the Callen‑Lenz Business Development strategy and delivering consultancy across defence programmes and portfolios.
Responsibilities
- Develop long‑term, forward‑thinking strategic plans aligned with a clear understanding of the bigger picture commercially and across the international defence landscape.
- Develop actionable campaign plans in a complex, evolving defence environment to successfully secure new contracts for Callen‑Lenz.
- Build a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities that directly align with the Callen‑Lenz strategy.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers across Army HQ, Field Army and wider defence networks.
- Provide expert guidance to Callen‑Lenz navigating complex global Defence requirements and commercial landscapes.
- Oversee significant projects that require both technical understanding and strategic oversight.
- Achieve sales targets by securing new sales and expanding existing opportunities within the defence and government sectors.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor analysis and emerging technologies relevant to the UAS/Defence industry that could directly influence future requirements.
- Demonstrate commitment to health and safety in the workplace, report hazards and incidents correctly, and participate in health and safety training when required.
- Perform other business development related duties as required.
Requirements
- British citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK.
- Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally, including occasionally at short notice.
- Driving licence and own transport due to office location.
Qualifications
- Essential: Experience in a similar role within defence, national security or government sectors, or a Service leaver with strong experience in UAV/Future programmes.
- Strong understanding of defence procurement, stakeholder engagement and strategy.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring high standards of accuracy and compliance in every submission.
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders from across the business.
- Self‑starter: Proactive, independent and has a strong sense of ownership in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong team‑working skills and willingness to support other taskings within BD function.
- Deep domain expertise: clear understanding and practical high‑impact experience across UK Defence’s and NATO’s UAS and Deep Fires requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Desirable: Influential network, well‑connected across Defence, with ability to influence and help shape requirements.
- Desirable: Knowledge in the Uncrewed Aerial Systems industry.
