Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented SC Cleared Vetting Lead to help us build a best in class vetting capability. This role is pivotal to ensure we maintain the highest standards of security, compliance, and onboarding excellence across the UK, with a distinct focus on government and police vetting.
Key Responsibilities
- You’ll be an expert within our organisation, able to lead the way on vetting best practice and demonstrate to colleagues at all levels the importance and value of an exemplar vetting service.
- Oversee the compliance, management and maintenance of all national security clearances, including BPSS, CTC, SC, DV, and police vetting (NPPV2/3).
- Develop training materials to educate clearance holders to ensure a comprehensive understanding of their responsibilities and best practices in behaviour.
- Implement a new record keeping system to enhance efficiency and data integrity.
- Design and implement internal policies that foster a strong culture of security and compliance.
- Regularly roll out training for policy/ process change, using the most effective engagement channels.
Operational Oversight
- Own and implement vetting processes across the full employee lifecycle– from onboarding to maintenance and aftercare.
- Ensure all vetting processes are executed to a consistently high standard.
- Make final decisions on flagged screening results, helping to navigate any appeals or gather supplementary evidence where required.
- Audit new customer contracts and projects to determine appropriate vetting requirements, including reviewing SALs.
- Reporting and tracking of costs involved in managing clearances
- Lead vetting responses for internal / external audits
- Line manage the Vetting Specialist, providing guidance and support.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide expert advice to line managers and department heads on vetting processes and policy interpretation.
- Keep senior leaders informed to support timely project assignments and resource planning.
- Act as the senior liaison for external customers regarding their specific vetting processes.
- Escalation point for our Vetting Specialist, handling complex applicant queries and ensuring vetting requests are valid and justified.
External Representation & Compliance
- Represent the company on national vetting working groups and maintain current knowledge through appropriate platforms.
- Ensure all clearance data is securely managed and sensitive government information is handled in accordance with national security protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience in UK security vetting and screening operations.
- Deep understanding of National Security Vetting (BPSS, CTC, SC, DV) and Police Vetting (NPPV2/3).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to navigate challenges and identify effective solutions.
- Ability to work unsupervised and have a proactive approach and decisive.
