An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established and highly skilled engineering team at a technically advanced, highly regulated site in Cramlington. This role is perfect for a hands-on, mechanically minded engineer who thrives in a varied environment and enjoys taking ownership of maintenance activities. You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of critical site operations, working across a diverse range of plant and systems.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a range of mechanical building services systems, including:

  • Steam boilers and steam/condensate systems
  • Chilled water systems
  • Compressed air systems
  • Pumps and associated plant
  • Air handling units (AHUs)
  • BMS-linked mechanical equipment

Your duties will include:

  • Carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance across site assets
  • Diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs
  • Identifying opportunities for improvements and remedial works
  • Updating maintenance records within the CMMS system
  • Supporting permit-to-work procedures
  • Supervising specialist subcontractors
  • Maintaining accurate compliance and asset documentation
  • Supporting safety inspections and risk assessments
  • Ensuring documentation aligns with GxP standards where required
About You

You will have experience in a mechanical maintenance or engineering environment and be confident working across multiple systems within a live site. You'll also be:

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive, reliable, and solutions-focused
  • Experienced or confident in supervising contractors
  • A strong communicator with the ability to engage site stakeholders
  • Willing to participate in a 1-in-4 on-call rota
