An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established and highly skilled engineering team at a technically advanced, highly regulated site in Cramlington. This role is perfect for a hands-on, mechanically minded engineer who thrives in a varied environment and enjoys taking ownership of maintenance activities. You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of critical site operations, working across a diverse range of plant and systems.
We welcome applications from candidates with any mechanical maintenance background - whether from manufacturing, facilities, forces, industrial, or similar environments - who are looking to develop their skills within a complex and rewarding setting.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a range of mechanical building services systems, including:
- Steam boilers and steam/condensate systems
- Chilled water systems
- Compressed air systems
- Pumps and associated plant
- Air handling units (AHUs)
- BMS-linked mechanical equipment
Your duties will include:
- Carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance across site assets
- Diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs
- Identifying opportunities for improvements and remedial works
- Updating maintenance records within the CMMS system
- Supporting permit-to-work procedures
- Supervising specialist subcontractors
- Maintaining accurate compliance and asset documentation
- Supporting safety inspections and risk assessments
- Ensuring documentation aligns with GxP standards where required
You will have experience in a mechanical maintenance or engineering environment and be confident working across multiple systems within a live site. You'll also be:
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Proactive, reliable, and solutions-focused
- Experienced or confident in supervising contractors
- A strong communicator with the ability to engage site stakeholders
- Willing to participate in a 1-in-4 on-call rota
Circa £45,000 salary
40-hour working week
Structured 1-in-4 on-call rota
