We are currently looking for experienced Electricians to join a project in Coventry, working on electrical installations within a substation environment. This is a great opportunity for electricians with experience in industrial, utilities, or power infrastructure projects to work on a key energy infrastructure project.
The Role
As an Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, termination, and testing of LV, control, protection, and instrumentation cabling associated with electrical substations. Working alongside engineers and commissioning teams, you will ensure installations are completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test LV, control, protection, and instrumentation cabling within a substation environment
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings to deliver accurate installations
- Carry out glanding, crimping, panel wiring, and field equipment connections
- Support commissioning engineers during functional testing and pre-commissioning activities
- Ensure all works comply with industry standards and project safety requirements
- Maintain accurate records including cable schedules, installation documentation, and test results
- Work safely in line with CDM regulations and site HSE policies
- Contribute to a strong safety culture while delivering high-quality installation work
Requirements
- Qualified Electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- National Grid Competent Person (NG Persons) status - essential
- Valid ECS/JIB card
- Experience working on industrial, utilities, or substation projects (desirable)
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Experience with cable termination, glanding, and panel wiring
- Knowledge of safe working practices on construction or infrastructure sites
