An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fire & Security Compliance Manager to join a growing and forward-thinking fire and security specialist. This is a senior role responsible for leading compliance, governance and operational standards across fire and security systems, ensuring all works meet current legislation, British Standards and Building Safety Act requirements. The successful candidate will oversee compliance for fire alarms, smoke control systems, AOVs, CCTV, access control and intruder alarms, ensuring all design, installation, maintenance and project delivery activities meet regulatory and quality standards. This role will be based between Head Office and multiple project sites, working closely with operational teams, QSHE, project managers and external stakeholders including the Building Safety Regulator.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance & Regulatory Management
- Lead compliance across fire and security operations ensuring adherence to relevant legislation, British Standards and Building Safety Act requirements.
- Ensure compliance with BS 5839, BS 9999, EN 12101, BS EN 50132 (CCTV) and BS EN 50131 (Intruder) standards.
- Prepare and submit Gateway documentation for High Risk Residential Buildings (HRBs).
- Manage building control and planning compliance for fire and security installations.
- Maintain and develop company procedures aligned with Building Regulations, CDM and BSA requirements.
- Quality Assurance & Audits
- Manage and coordinate internal and external audits including BAFE, NSI, IFC and ISO9001.
- Maintain and manage third-party accreditations and certifications.
- Conduct regular compliance inspections and operational audits.
- Liaise with certification bodies, fire authorities and external regulators.
- Operational Oversight
- Oversee compliance across the design, installation, service and maintenance of fire and security systems.
- Ensure all design documentation, commissioning records, training records and compliance documentation are accurately maintained.
- Develop robust record-keeping processes ensuring documentation is accessible and audit-ready.
- Work with operational managers to embed best practice, SSOW and regulatory compliance across projects.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and develop a team of managers, supervisors and administrative staff.
- Maintain training matrices and competency frameworks.
- Coordinate workforce CPD programmes to ensure ongoing competency and regulatory compliance.
- Deliver and support technical and compliance training across the business.
- Project & Stakeholder Management
- Lead multiple compliance-related projects from initiation through to completion.
- Prepare compliance documentation including SSOW, commissioning reports and regulatory submissions.
- Act as the primary point of contact for compliance matters with clients and internal teams.
- Work closely with Principal Designers, Contractors and the Building Safety Regulator.
- Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work with HR to ensure staff competency, training and professional development aligns with BSA guidance.
- Support QSHE teams to ensure procedures align with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards.
- Collaborate with ESG and environmental teams to support wider compliance and sustainability initiatives.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years' experience managing fire and security compliance.
- Experience managing or maintaining Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001).
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and Building Safety Act requirements.
- Experience working with the Building Safety Regulator and HRB projects.
- NVQ Level 5 (or equivalent) in Risk Management, Engineering or Electronic Security Systems.
- Familiarity with FIA modules for fire detection and alarm systems.
- Professional membership such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
- CDM Management qualification.
- Desirable: Project Management certification (PRINCE2 / APM).
- Experience with Gateway processes for high-risk residential buildings.
- Experience managing supply chain compliance and contractor onboarding.
- Full UK driving licence.
