Our client is a leading specialist hire provider of pumping, heating and cooling solutions across the UK and Ireland. With a strong national depot network and a 24/7 service capability, they support customers with both planned projects and emergency response solutions across a wide range of industries including construction, utilities, facilities management and industrial sectors.
The Role
Based at the Doncaster depot, this is a hands-on, workshop-based role focused on the Major Repair, and Service predominantly of our Engine Powered Pump Fleet. You will play a key role in ensuring all equipment returned from our depot network is quickly turned around, fully operational, and ready for putting back into hire fleet. This role is ideal for an engineer who prefers a stable depot environment while still working on a varied range of equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, service and repair returned pump equipment and associated systems
- Carry out fault-finding on mechanical and basic electrical issues
- Prepare and test equipment ensuring it is fully operational
- Refurbish and maintain diesel and electric pump units, including submersible pumps
- Accurately complete service records and job reports
- Support general workshop operations including equipment movement and organisation
- Maintain a safe working environment in line with health & safety procedures
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a Pump Engineer, Service Engineer or similar mechanical role
- Strong mechanical knowledge (essential)
- Experience with pumps, plant, generators or similar equipment
- Ideally experience working on diesel engines and associated systems
- Fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- A hands-on, proactive approach with good attention to detail
- Ability to work independently within a depot environment
- Full UK driving licence (preferred)
- Desirable: Experience within the hire industry
- Basic electrical knowledge
