A vacancy for a Senior Highway Engineer has become available in Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh or Chelmsford. You will be joining a National Multi-Disciplinary's new Public Highways Engineering team within an office of over 50 engineers. With the immediate success in work winning, they are in the position to now recruit Design Engineers and Senior Engineers to the team to take pivotal roles in delivering the projects. These include Bypass designs, Junction improvements, Roundabout designs, and road adoptions. You will be designing these schemes using software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
As a Senior Engineer in this consultancy, you will still be heavily involved in detailed & feasibility design but you will also be leading a team of junior engineers and technicians to assist you.
Highways Engineer Responsibilities:- Supporting the Project Team in designing highway schemes.
- Preparing scheme drawings, from feasibility design through to detailed design.
- Preparing or checking horizontal and vertical alignments in 3D models.
- Ensuring tasks are carried out within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Co-ordinating the highway design process and integrating with other design disciplines within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Working alongside Clients and stakeholders on technical aspects of projects.
- Keeping up-to-date with current methods and design guidelines.
- A degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
- Appropriate previous experience of working in this field.
- Ability to act on own initiative and operate in a proactive way.
- Ability to work collaboratively and integrate into multi-disciplinary teams or work independently.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD.
- Experienced in preparing drawings and reports.
- Working towards professional qualifications.
- Qualified Road Safety Auditor (Team Member / Observer).
- Knowledge of Civil 3D.
- Experience of drainage design.
- Project Management experience and qualifications.
