We are working with a progressive, employee-owned Consultancy that combines environmental and engineering expertise, delivering projects that create lasting benefits for communities and the environment. The business works on long-term frameworks with the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales locally, alongside larger national programmes across the UK. With an increasing pipeline of secured work and a strong focus on delivering through local teams, the Warrington office is continuing to strengthen its in-house design capability as schemes move from appraisal into detailed design.
They are seeking a Senior Chartered Engineer to lead and direct multidisciplinary design teams, providing both technical leadership and accountability across a diverse portfolio of environmental and infrastructure projects. Your background will be in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with experience spanning infrastructure, flood risk management and/or environmental asset management.
In this role you will take ownership of design delivery, ensuring that projects are managed effectively in terms of programme, budget and quality. Responsibilities will include:
- Managing contracts and commercial performance
- Preparing technical specifications
- Liaising with clients and regulators
- Coordinating multidisciplinary teams
- Driving the design process to ensure outcomes meet client and community needs
You will champion technical excellence and innovation, encouraging the uptake of modern methodologies, digital tools and efficient design workflows. You will also contribute to business development activities, supporting or leading tender submissions and strengthening relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
A strong understanding of Safety in Design and Designer's responsibilities under CDM will be essential, along with the ability to embed best practice across buildability, carbon reduction, sustainability, social value and digital transformation initiatives.
Based in the Warrington office, the role offers a flexible and hybrid working arrangement. The office is modern, well connected by transport and designed to support collaborative working.
You will hold a degree, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline and will be a Chartered or Incorporated member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, or hold an equivalent chartership in a related discipline. A full UK driving licence is required.
The ideal candidate will be technically strong, commercially aware and confident leading teams, with experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting their professional development. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping and growing a local design capability within a respected Consultancy.
In return, the organisation offers a healthy work/life balance, a generous training budget, strong support for ongoing professional development, an employee-owned ethos, flexible working hours and a comprehensive benefits package including health and wellbeing initiatives, salary sacrifice schemes, cycle-to-work and EV options.
