Lead projects. Mentor Engineers. Shape the future of a respected Consultancy.
If you're a Senior Structural Engineer looking for more than just another design role, this is an opportunity to join one of the UK's longest-established engineering consultancies, where you'll work on technically varied projects, take ownership of your own portfolio and play a genuine role in developing both people and projects.
You'll be joining a well-established multi-disciplinary consultancy with an excellent reputation across the Built Environment, delivering structural and civil engineering solutions on projects ranging from industrial and pharmaceutical developments through to commercial, residential, education, defence, healthcare, probation and public sector schemes. Much of their workload comes from long-standing client relationships and repeat business, providing a strong pipeline of interesting work rather than one-off commissions.
Working as part of the Thornaby office, you'll take responsibility for leading structural engineering projects from initial concept through to completion. You'll produce and review structural designs across steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber structures, ensuring designs are delivered in accordance with current UK Standards and Eurocodes while maintaining the highest technical standards throughout.
Alongside project delivery, you'll work closely with architects, contractors and fellow engineering disciplines to develop practical, buildable design solutions. You'll oversee technical calculations, reports, drawings and specifications, undertake structural inspections and condition surveys, and provide clear technical advice to clients throughout the design process.
As a senior member of the team, you'll also mentor and support junior engineers, helping to develop technical capability across the office while contributing to design reviews and maintaining quality across multiple projects.
The role would suit a Chartered Structural Engineer with strong UK consultancy experience and a proven background delivering structural projects across a variety of sectors. You'll be confident designing using steel, concrete, masonry and timber, experienced with Tekla Structural Designer (or similar analysis software), TEDDS, Excel, AutoCAD and ideally Revit, whilst also being comfortable producing specifications using NBS and carrying out structural surveys and technical reports.
You’ll enjoy taking ownership of projects, managing client relationships and working collaboratively within a close-knit team where your ideas and technical expertise are genuinely valued.
In return, you'll be joining a consultancy that combines the stability of an established business with a supportive, collaborative culture where professional development is actively encouraged. You'll benefit from hybrid working, a market-leading pension scheme, payment of relevant professional membership subscriptions, ongoing support towards continued professional development and the opportunity to work on an exceptionally varied portfolio of projects across the UK.
