I'm currently working with a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that is looking to appoint a Senior Rail Drainage Engineer to join its growing infrastructure team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Drainage Engineer to take a lead role in delivering drainage design packages across major rail and infrastructure projects.

You'll be involved in the development of innovative drainage solutions while working closely with multidisciplinary teams on complex, high-profile schemes.

The role would suit someone with strong drainage design experience who is looking to take ownership of projects, mentor junior engineers, and play a key role in delivering technically robust solutions.

The Role

As a Senior Rail Drainage Engineer, you'll

  • Lead the delivery of drainage design packages for rail and infrastructure projects
  • Produce and review drainage calculations, technical reports, drawings and specifications

• Develop drainage solutions covering

  • Surface water drainage
  • Foul water drainage
  • Sustainable Drainage Systems (Su DS)
  • Earthworks drainage
  • Rail and highway drainage systems
  • Utilise industry-standard drainage software including Info Drainage, Civil Storm and related modelling packages
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure seamless integration of drainage solutions
  • Support approvals and consent applications with Local Authorities, Water Authorities and other stakeholders
  • Identify and manage design risks while ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians
  • Liaise directly with clients and project stakeholders throughout project delivery
  • What They're Looking For
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong drainage design experience within infrastructure projects
  • Experience delivering surface water, foul water, Su DS and earthworks drainage solutions
  • Proficiency with drainage design and hydraulic modelling software such as Info Drainage, Civil Storm or similar
  • Experience producing and checking technical deliverables
  • Good understanding of drainage approvals and consent processes
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to junior team members
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Rail sector experience would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards) is desirable
