Job Title: Senior/Principal Bridge Engineer
Location: Otley, North Leeds.
Salary: 43,000 – 55,000

A large consultancy that are rapidly growing in the UK Market are looking to recruit a Senior or Principal Bridge Engineer to join their team in Otley. They work solely on Design & Build schemes, giving you the full cycle from preliminary and feasibility design to build on a variety of Bridge Structures. Recent projects include work on Humber Bridge, The Great Yarmouth Third River Crossing and the Northern Spire Bridge in Scotland.

As a Senior or Principal Engineer within the Bridge team you will be responsible for technical leadership and delivery to these D&B schemes. You will be still heavily involved in the detailed design, the surveying and inspections of structures and liaising directly with the clients.

This role is for a Chartered Engineer with at least 7 years\’ experience, working on similar schemes to above. If you aren\’t chartered but fast approaching and looking for a consultancy to achieve Chartership with, then there may still be opportunities at this consultancy for you as they are also looking to hire a Bridge Engineer.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with both existing and new bridges and civil structures across a range of materials and forms, superstructure, substructure and articulation elements
  • Involvement at early project stages: scoping, specifying and interpreting surveys, inspection and investigative works, optioneering, scheme design
  • Detailed design: modelling, calculations, overseeing drawing production
  • Document preparation, including authoring technical reports, such as AIPs, specifications and contract documents
  • Reviewing the work of others: cat 3 checking, as a client representative and designer\’s site representative
  • Interfacing with clients from local and national authorities, consultants, and D&B contractors amongst others
  • Supporting graduate engineers as they progress towards chartership

Job Requirements

  • Minimum seven years\’ (senior engineer) / seven years\’ (principal engineer) professional experience
  • Chartered engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or equivalent
  • Detailed knowledge and experience in the use of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and other standards and legislation
