Senior Mechanical EngineerPrestonSalary £40,000 – £55,000Job Ref : 38041We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who is ambitious and keen to grow quickly into an Associate role, supporting a team on a variety of projects for this Building Services Consultancy in Preston.You will join a business that is going through the next phase of planned growth, and they already have the largest team of Building Services design engineers in Preston. You will need to be confident doing the client liaison aspects of the role from the first day, taking briefs, understanding requirements and being the interface on projects as they develop. You will also be working on the Mechanical elements of the job, initially under the guidance of Principal and Associate Engineers before being pushed into a project management capacity yourself.You will be developing designs through RIBA Stages 1-5. The bulk of this companies work is in the detailed design phases, and they are known for having a solid reputation and reliable service offering across all of their sectors. Additional areas that they support their clients include Energy Management, Decarbonisation, Digital Engineering, Sustainability and more.You will be working across a broad range of engineering projects, including both new build and refurbishment projects across, predominantly, the Northwest of England and local to Preston, Lancaster, and Carlisle. Projects will be based in the Education, Residential, Healthcare, and Industrial sector in the main but they are not restrictive on the projects that they undertake. You will be working on Hospitals, Student Accommodation, University Buildings, Council projects and new build offices, this will provide you with great experience across a variety of sectors and RIBA Stages.Ideally you will be coming from a contractor or another consultancy and be within a commutable area of Preston. The expectation is that you can go to the office 3 days a week as a minimum and any experience of working on Revit will be a benefit as the company has ambitious plans to transform into full Revit capability.ONC / HNC qualifications as a minimum but ideally a degree and CIBSE membership, whilst Chartership should be an aspiration, it is not essential. If you have some experience on the tools as a Plumber working in the sectors, or other associated Mechanical Building Services role it would be of great advantage too but is not essential.They have strong traditions within the business, not just in the work that they do but also the social events that are done. The annual electrical engineers versus mechanical engineers Darts matches are well contested and they have a couple of work outings per year as a minimum.
