Senior Civil Design Engineer
We are an independent consultancy with over 35 years of delivering Civil, Structural and Geo-Environmental Engineering solutions across Yorkshire and nationwide. We focus on practical, commercially focused advice for residential, commercial, leisure and industrial sectors.
Role Overview
As a Senior Civil Engineer you will lead the delivery of infrastructure projects, managing schemes from concept through to completion. You will provide technical leadership, maintain client relationships, and drive commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and coordination of highways, drainage and development infrastructure schemes, including site appraisals, drainage strategies, Flood Risk Assessments, SuDS assessments, site level design, cut and fill analysis, private and adoptable drainage systems, highway designs, earthworks strategies and external works packages.
- Secure technical approvals through Sections 104, 106, 38, and 278 agreements, working with local authorities, water companies, Lead Local Flood Authorities and other stakeholders.
- Contribute from initial feasibility and concept design through planning, detailed design and construction support, offering practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, lead project meetings, contribute to fee proposals and business development, and strengthen existing client relationships.
- Provide mentorship and technical support to Graduate Engineers, Project Engineers and Technicians, supporting their progression toward professional qualifications.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering.
- Strong experience delivering infrastructure and drainage designs within a consultancy environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of development-led Civil Engineering projects, including highways design, drainage strategies, SuDS, and technical approval processes (Sections 38, 278, 104, 106).
- Proficiency in Civil 3D and MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and liaise effectively with local authorities, the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities and other approval bodies.
- Approximately five to ten years of experience; Chartered engineer or working towards chartership through the ICE.
