Drive the Technical Delivery of Complex Building Services Projects

Some roles focus purely on design. Others are all about delivery. This opportunity sits firmly between the two.

We're recruiting for a Technical Services Manager (Mechanical) to join an established building services engineering business where technical excellence is central to every stage of a project.

You'll be trusted to take ownership of the technical delivery process, ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant, buildable, and successfully delivered from pre-construction through to commissioning.

The role is for someone who enjoys solving engineering challenges, influencing project outcomes, and working closely with clients, consultants, and delivery teams to ensure projects perform exactly as intended.

The Role

You'll be the technical focal point across multiple building services projects, coordinating design activities, driving programme delivery, and ensuring every stage of the engineering process meets both commercial and technical expectations.

  • Working across pre-construction and live projects, review technical submissions, oversee design development, manage consultant coordination, and support successful installation and commissioning.
  • Identify engineering risks early, propose practical solutions, and keep projects moving forward without compromising quality or compliance.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring designs are fully integrated, compliant, and buildable.
  • Review and approve technical submissions, RFIs, engineering drawings, and design documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and engineering solutions that meet project specifications, regulatory requirements, and sustainability objectives.
  • Oversee production and coordination of commissioning strategies, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and system validation documentation.
  • Ensure all building services installations are delivered in accordance with approved designs, legislation, and quality standards.
  • Support fire strategy coordination, building safety requirements, and wider compliance activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify technical risks, design changes, and project variations, working closely with commercial and operational teams to manage impact.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams while providing regular updates on design progress and technical performance.
  • What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience within Mechanical / Building Services Engineering, with a background in technical delivery, design management, or project delivery.
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, engineering standards, and sustainability compliance requirements.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions to technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, managing multiple priorities and meeting project deadlines.
  • Proactive, quality‑driven approach with a commitment to delivering technically compliant and successful project outcomes.
  • What's on Offer
  • Competitive salary of £55,000-£65,000 depending on experience.
  • 35 days annual leave, including bank holidays.
  • Enhanced pension.
  • Contractual sick pay.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity benefits.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
  • On‑site gym facilities.
  • Exposure to technically demanding building services projects across a range of sectors.
  • Role with genuine autonomy, where your technical expertise will directly influence project success.
