Principal Project Manager - Ecology & Environmental Projects Location: Midlands Salary: Up to £50,000 DOE Contract: Permanent | Full-Time Working Pattern: Hybrid & Flexible Working Experienced Project Manager looking for a new challenge? Calibre Search is working with an established environmental consultancy looking to appoint an experienced Principal Project Manager to take responsibility for the delivery of a range of complex environmental and ecology-related projects. This opportunity is particularly suited to someone with a strong background in Project Management, ideally gained within the Environmental Consultancy, Construction, Infrastructure, Engineering or Planning sectors. While the projects will have a strong environmental and ecological focus, we're not necessarily looking for someone who has spent their career working as an Ecologist. What's more important is your ability to successfully manage projects, coordinate technical teams, oversee budgets and maintain strong client relationships. You'll be joining a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, taking ownership of significant projects and ensuring they're delivered efficiently, commercially and to a high standard. The Role As Principal Project Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing projects from initial planning through to completion, working alongside environmental specialists and wider project teams. Your responsibilities will include: Leading the delivery of complex environmental and multidisciplinary projects. Managing project programmes, budgets, resources and deliverables. Overseeing project financial performance, including forecasting, profitability and commercial risk. Coordinating internal technical specialists, external consultants and other stakeholders. Establishing effective project controls, reporting procedures and delivery plans. Identifying potential risks and resolving issues before they affect project delivery. Acting as a key point of contact for clients and maintaining strong working relationships. Ensuring projects are completed within agreed timescales and budgets. Supporting and mentoring colleagues to improve project management processes and standards. Contributing to the continued improvement of project delivery across the business. What We're Looking For We're particularly keen to speak with experienced Project Managers who have successfully delivered complex projects within a consultancy, construction or similar technical environment. You'll ideally bring: Significant experience managing multiple projects, ideally within Environmental Consultancy, Construction, Infrastructure, Engineering or a related industry. A proven track record of managing project budgets, programmes, resources and commercial performance. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. Strong knowledge of project governance, risk management and reporting. Confidence dealing directly with clients and managing expectations. Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills. A relevant degree or recognised Project Management qualification. Experience working on environmental, ecology, planning or development-related projects would be particularly beneficial. Knowledge of environmental legislation and planning processes would be advantageous, although candidates with transferable experience from other project-led industries are encouraged to apply. Experience using Power BI or similar reporting systems would also be useful. The key requirement is proven Project Management experience. We're looking for someone who understands how to deliver complex projects successfully, rather than someone whose background is purely technical ecology. What's On Offer? Salary up to £49,000, depending on experience. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Opportunity to manage varied and technically interesting projects. A senior position with responsibility for project delivery and commercial performance. Supportive multidisciplinary working environment. Opportunities for continued professional development and career progression. Wider employee benefits package. Interested? If you're an experienced Project Manager working within Environmental Consultancy, Construction, Infrastructure or a similar industry and would be interested in exploring a new opportunity, I'd be happy to have a confidential conversation.
