An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Principal Civil Water Engineer to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering Consultancy with an established and growing presence within the UK water sector. Operating across major UK water frameworks and infrastructure programmes, the team delivers a broad range of projects for clients including water authorities, environmental organisations and public sector bodies. With significant investment planned across the sector and a strong pipeline of secured work, this is an opportunity to join a business delivering some of the most complex and technically challenging water projects currently being undertaken across the UK.

Based from their Bristol office, which is conveniently located just off the M4/M5 interchange and offers excellent access from across the South West and South Wales, you'll become part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary team environment. The Bristol office brings together Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, Environmental, Transportation and Building Services specialists, creating genuine opportunities to work on integrated infrastructure solutions while benefiting from the flexibility of a hybrid working model.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in the delivery of major clean water, wastewater and environmental infrastructure projects across the region and nationally. Projects are likely to include clean water treatment and distribution infrastructure, wastewater networks, pipelines, pumping stations, water reuse schemes, stormwater management projects and wider environmental improvement works.

Working closely with Project Managers, Technical Directors and multidisciplinary design teams, you'll be responsible for coordinating Civil Water design activities from feasibility and outline design through to detailed design and construction support. This will include overseeing the production and review of technical reports, drawings, calculations, specifications and design documentation, ensuring projects are delivered to programme, budget and quality requirements.

The role offers significant technical responsibility, requiring a strong understanding of hydraulic design principles, water and wastewater infrastructure, pipeline design, risk management, design coordination and the application of relevant industry standards and regulations including CDM, NEC contracts and water industry specifications. You'll also work closely alongside MEICA, Structural and Geotechnical teams to develop practical and buildable engineering solutions across complex multidisciplinary projects.

Alongside technical delivery, you'll act as a key point of contact for clients and project stakeholders, supporting the development of long-term relationships and helping identify opportunities for future work. You'll contribute to fee proposals, framework submissions and tender opportunities, whilst also supporting the continued growth of the Civil Water capability across the region.

A key part of the position will involve mentoring and developing less experienced engineers, providing technical guidance and helping to foster a collaborative team culture. The business places a strong emphasis on professional development and knowledge sharing, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys both technical leadership and supporting the progression of others.

To be considered, you'll hold a degree in Civil Engineering and be Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant professional institution. You'll have a proven track record delivering Civil Water projects within a Consultancy environment and experience leading multidisciplinary design teams on complex infrastructure schemes. Strong knowledge of water industry standards, project delivery processes and design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, ArcGIS and common data environments would be advantageous.

In return, you'll join a highly respected Consultancy with a long-standing reputation for delivering major infrastructure projects throughout the UK and internationally. The role offers a varied project portfolio, flexible hybrid working, excellent training and development opportunities, a comprehensive benefits package and the chance to play a leading role in shaping the future of critical water infrastructure.
