We are looking for an MEP Project Manager/Clerk of Works/Compliance Engineer with a strong Mechanical and/or Electrical Building Services background to join a specialist healthcare compliance consultancy operating across the North West. This is a key position within a growing technical team focused on supporting NHS Trusts and healthcare providers in maintaining safe, compliant, and operationally resilient healthcare environments.
The business has an established reputation within the Healthcare sector, supporting acute hospitals, mental health facilities, community healthcare buildings, and specialist clinical environments. Their work centres around statutory compliance, HTM guidance, critical infrastructure, and risk management across existing healthcare estates.
This is a highly client-facing role where you will act as a trusted technical advisor to healthcare estates teams, supporting compliance strategy, governance, auditing, and technical assurance. You will work closely with Authorised Persons, Responsible Persons, Estates Managers, and external contractors to ensure systems are operating safely and in accordance with current healthcare guidance and legislation.
Your role will involve carrying out technical audits and compliance reviews across critical building services systems, including mechanical, electrical, and life safety infrastructure within healthcare environments. You will be responsible for identifying areas of risk or non-compliance and providing practical, proportionate recommendations to support remediation and long-term estate strategy.
Responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out compliance audits and technical reviews in line with HTM guidance and healthcare standards
- Acting as Authorising Engineer across relevant disciplines within healthcare estates
- Reviewing maintenance procedures, operational practices, and contractor performance
- Advising NHS and healthcare clients on compliance risk, operational resilience, and statutory obligations
- Producing detailed technical reports and action plans
- Supporting remedial works, technical specifications, and validation processes
- Witness testing, inspections, and assurance of critical systems installations and upgrades
- Providing technical guidance and support to Authorised Persons and Estates teams
The majority of the work is focused on existing healthcare buildings and live operational environments rather than new build projects. As such, the role offers a technically engaging mix of compliance advisory, engineering assessment, stakeholder management, and on-site technical oversight.
You will be working on a wide range of healthcare facilities, from large acute hospital estates through to specialist treatment centres and community healthcare sites. The work is highly influential, directly contributing to patient safety, operational continuity, and regulatory compliance.
Ideally, you will come from a Building Services Consultancy, NHS Estates, FM, Contractor, or Compliance background, with strong knowledge of healthcare engineering standards and HTM guidance. Experience within critical environments and familiarity with healthcare compliance processes will be highly advantageous.
HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Building Services Engineering (or similar) is preferred. Membership of CIBSE, IHEEM, or relevant professional bodies would be beneficial. Existing Authorising Engineer status, or the desire to work towards it, would be highly advantageous.
This is a hybrid role offering a balance of office, home, and site-based working. It would suit someone who enjoys technical autonomy, problem solving, and becoming a trusted advisor within the Healthcare sector.
If you are looking for an opportunity to genuinely influence healthcare building safety, compliance, and estate performance across the North West, please get in touch for further information.
