A growing multidisciplinary Consultancy in Leeds is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer to play a key role in the next stage of its growth, following the award of a major new project and a continued increase in workload across the business.
Established in 2013, the business has built a strong reputation delivering complex infrastructure and engineering projects across the UK. While the company has a long-standing background within rail depot and train facility infrastructure, the business today operates as a genuinely multidisciplinary Consultancy offering Architecture, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering and M&E design services across a broad mix of sectors and technically challenging projects.
Their approach is heavily shaped by real construction experience, with a strong focus on delivering practical, buildable and commercially aware solutions rather than purely theoretical design work. The team works closely with developers, contractors and stakeholders from early feasibility and pre-construction stages through to detailed design and construction support, giving engineers genuine involvement across the full project lifecycle.
With a large pipeline of secured work and a recent hire unexpectedly falling through at the final stage, there is now an immediate requirement for an experienced Civil Engineer who can come in and take ownership of drainage and infrastructure delivery across multiple live schemes. This is a particularly good opportunity for somebody who enjoys variety in their role. The position will blend hands-on infrastructure design with broader project leadership responsibilities across multidisciplinary teams.
You would be involved in drainage, highways, levels and external works design while also coordinating input from Architectural, Structural and M&E teams to help deliver complex schemes from concept through to completion. The business currently does not have strong drainage capability in-house, so they are looking for somebody who can confidently lead that side of the operation and become the go-to technical lead internally.
Alongside project delivery, there would also be an opportunity to mentor and support a Graduate Civil Engineer within the team who is keen to develop further within drainage and development infrastructure. Projects themselves are varied and technically interesting. While rail infrastructure and depot work still forms an important part of the business, the workload itself is very much multidisciplinary and includes wider development infrastructure, industrial, commercial and complex engineering schemes that require close collaboration across multiple disciplines.
The role would suit somebody who enjoys both technical delivery and wider project involvement rather than sitting purely within one discipline. Responsibilities will include:
- Liaising with clients and multidisciplinary design teams
- Leading the design and review of highways, drainage, levels and external works packages
- Producing and overseeing technical drawings, reports and specifications
- Supporting feasibility and bid work
- Attending client and design meetings
- Helping manage projects through to key milestones and delivery stages
There will also be involvement in mentoring junior staff, supporting the development of internal standards and helping strengthen the company's in-house civil engineering capability as the team continues to grow.
Candidates are expected to have strong experience across drainage and infrastructure design using Civil 3D and InfoDrainage alongside a solid understanding of highways, levels, utilities and external works design. Experience delivering multidisciplinary projects from feasibility through to detailed design would be highly beneficial. Chartered status would be preferred, although strong Senior Engineers approaching chartership will also be considered.
