Experienced Civil Engineering Technician - Airfields or Highways Location: Manchester or Chester Discipline: Civil Engineering / Aviation Infrastructure Experience: 7+ years Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Civil Engineering Technician to join a busy and growing airfield civil engineering team, working on technically challenging infrastructure projects. This role would suit a skilled technician with a strong background in highways or airfield projects, who is confident producing complex 2D and 3D design deliverables and developing detailed pavement models using Civil 3D. You will play an important role in the delivery of large-scale civil engineering designs, working alongside experienced engineers and technicians on projects where accuracy, technical knowledge and high-quality design outputs are essential. With a strong pipeline of work, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to major infrastructure projects, share your technical expertise and support the development of junior colleagues. The position can be based in either Manchester or Chester. Key Responsibilities Produce high-quality 2D and 3D civil engineering drawings and models using AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Develop large-scale 3D pavement models, including the use of profiles and corridors within Civil 3D. Prepare detailed civil engineering design deliverables for airfield or highways infrastructure projects. Interpret relevant design standards and apply them independently to technical designs and drawing packages. Undertake cut-and-fill assessments and associated earthworks modelling. Work collaboratively with civil engineers, designers and other project team members to deliver coordinated design solutions. Provide technical guidance and share knowledge with junior colleagues, helping to build their skills, confidence and independence. Maintain high standards of technical accuracy, quality and consistency across all design outputs. About You To be considered for this opportunity, you will have: At least 7 years' experience working on highways or airfield civil engineering projects. Proficiency in 2D and 3D AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Proven experience producing large-scale 3D pavement models using Civil 3D profiles and corridors. The ability to interpret relevant design standards and apply them independently to design deliverables. Experience completing cut-and-fill assessments and earthworks calculations or modelling. Strong technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail. The confidence to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
