A growing Building Services consultancy is looking to appoint an Intermediate / Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its expanding Manchester team. They are offering the opportunity to join an experienced team with direct communication into the Senior Leadership team for support and technical help whilst also only requiring 1 day a week in the office - which is prime real estate in central Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit consultancy where you'll have genuine influence over projects, work directly with experienced Directors and play a key role in the continued growth of the business. With a strong pipeline of secured work and long-term client partnerships, you'll enjoy a varied workload across both design and technical consultancy services.

The Role

You’ll work on a broad range of Mechanical Building Services projects from feasibility and technical validation through to detailed design, specification and project delivery. Current projects span:

  • Commercial office fit-outs
  • Industrial and logistics developments
  • Large warehouse schemes
  • Real estate portfolios
  • Refurbishment and asset improvement projects
  • Specialist engineering consultancy and technical validation work

Unlike larger consultancies, you’ll be exposed to the full project lifecycle and work closely with clients, consultants and contractors, giving you real autonomy and responsibility.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering Mechanical Building Services designs across all RIBA stages.
  • Producing calculations, reports, specifications and technical drawings.
  • Using CAD/Revit confidently to produce and coordinate your own designs.
  • Carrying out engineering reviews, validations and technical assessments.
  • Liaising directly with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Supporting the delivery of multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high technical standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience within a Building Services consultancy.
  • Strong Mechanical Building Services design knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Competent using AutoCAD and/or Revit to produce your own designs.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of projects and communicating directly with clients.
  • A collaborative approach with the confidence to ask questions and contribute ideas.

Whether you’re an experienced Intermediate Engineer looking for the next step or an established Senior Engineer seeking greater variety and autonomy, we’d be keen to hear from you.

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary dependent on experience.
  • Hybrid working with flexibility around office attendance.
  • Modern and collaborative office environment in a prime location.
  • Genuine career progression within a growing consultancy and direct access to Directors and decision-makers.
  • Opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of technically interesting projects.
  • Supportive, family-friendly culture where flexibility is based on trust and outcomes rather than rigid policies.

Why Apply?

This is a consultancy that has built its reputation on technical excellence, responsiveness and long-term client relationships. Rather than being another number in a large organisation, you’ll become an integral part of a growing engineering team where your ideas, technical ability and contribution will have a real impact on the future of the business.

If you’re looking for a role that offers autonomy, project variety and the opportunity to grow alongside an ambitious consultancy, we’d love to hear from you.
