Kickstart Your Career in Landscape Architecture!

Are you a Graduate Landscape Architect looking to develop your career within a growing, environmentally focused consultancy? Calibre Search is working with an established multidisciplinary environmental consultancy looking to appoint two Graduate Landscape Architects to join its expanding Landscape team. Based primarily in Manchester, with the possibility of Sheffield for the right candidates, these opportunities offer the chance to work alongside experienced Landscape Architects, Planners and Environmental Consultants on a varied portfolio of projects.

You'll gain hands-on experience across landscape design, planning and assessment, contributing to projects ranging from residential and commercial developments to renewable energy schemes, including wind farms, solar developments and urban regeneration. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their technical skills, develop their creativity and gain exposure to the full project lifecycle.

The Role

  • Supporting landscape design projects from initial concepts and sketches through to detailed planting plans and construction drawings.
  • Assisting with Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and landscape planning reports.
  • Producing drawings, graphics, visualisations and presentation materials.
  • Contributing to site masterplans, landscape strategies and environmental design solutions.
  • Working closely with ecologists, planners, engineers and other environmental specialists.
  • Supporting multiple projects across different stages of design and delivery.
  • Attending site visits, client meetings and consultations where required.
  • Developing your understanding of UK planning policy, environmental regulations and landscape assessment guidance.

You'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals while gradually taking on greater responsibility as your confidence and technical abilities develop.

About You

We're looking for enthusiastic and creative graduates who are keen to develop their careers in Landscape Architecture. Ideally, you'll have:

  • A degree in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline, ideally from a Landscape Institute-accredited course, with an appropriate postgraduate qualification where applicable.
  • Up to 1-2 years' relevant experience, although recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • A basic understanding of landscape design principles, UK planning policy and guidance such as GLVIA3.
  • Experience using software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, GIS or similar design packages.
  • Strong graphical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • A creative approach to problem-solving with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage your workload and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for occasional site visits.
  • Previous consultancy experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

We're equally interested in graduates who can demonstrate enthusiasm, technical potential and a genuine interest in landscape design and environmental planning.

What's on Offer?

  • Competitive salary of £26,000 - £32,000, depending on experience.
  • Two permanent opportunities within an established environmental consultancy.
  • Exposure to a diverse range of landscape design and planning projects.
  • The chance to work alongside experienced Landscape Architects and environmental specialists.
  • Ongoing professional development, mentoring and opportunities for career progression.
  • A collaborative working environment where your ideas and creativity are encouraged.
  • Opportunities to develop both your design and landscape assessment skills.
