An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operations Manager to join a growing engineering services business based in Macclesfield, Cheshire. This is a key role responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, managing engineering teams, improving service delivery, and ensuring a first-class experience for clients. The successful candidate will have a strong background within the gas, heating, HVAC, or mechanical services sector, with experience leading technical teams and managing operational performance.

The ideal candidate will be a personable and experienced manager who understands the challenges of delivering engineering services, supporting engineers, and maintaining strong client relationships. You will not need specific care home experience; however, experience within commercial gas, boilers, heating systems, HVAC, or building services is highly desirable. This role would suit an experienced Operations Manager, Service Manager, Contracts Manager, or Engineering Manager looking for a position where they can take ownership of operations and play a key part in supporting continued business growth.

Based from the company's office in Macclesfield, Cheshire, this is a full-time office-based position with occasional travel required to visit client sites and attend meetings, including locations further afield in the South of England.

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the engineering team.
  • Lead, support, and develop engineers to ensure high standards of service delivery.
  • Use your knowledge of gas heating systems, commercial boilers, and HVAC services to support operational decisions.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, maintaining strong and professional working relationships.
  • Attend client meetings and site visits to understand requirements and improve customer experience.
  • Ensure planned and reactive maintenance works are delivered efficiently and within agreed timescales.
  • Monitor team performance, KPIs, and operational targets.
  • Coordinate engineers, workloads, and resources to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with senior management to support company growth and operational improvements.
  • Ensure all works are completed safely, professionally, and in line with company standards.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of operational staff where required.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Previous experience within an Operations Manager, Service Manager, Contracts Manager, Engineering Manager, or similar role.
  • Strong background within gas, heating, HVAC, mechanical services, or building services.
  • Good understanding of commercial gas boilers, heating systems, and maintenance operations.
  • Experience managing engineers, technicians, or field-based technical teams.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to manage performance and improve service delivery.
  • Engineering qualifications or technical experience within gas/HVAC would be advantageous.

Salary / Package:

  • £40,000 - £60,000 basic salary (depending on experience)
  • Company vehicle provided
  • 22 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Additional 5 personal days
  • Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week (8am-5pm)
  • Office-based role with travel to client sites when required
