An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join one of the country's leading Facilities Management companies, working with one of its major UK supermarket clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a number of retail stores, maintaining and repairing a range of commercial heating systems, HVAC equipment and air conditioning units. The role will involve regular planned store visits to complete reactive maintenance, PPMs and minor repairs as requested by the customer. You will work as part of a wider engineering team, ensuring all maintenance is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
Duties:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a number of retail sites.
- Service, maintain and repair a range of mechanical and HVAC equipment, including boilers, fans, pumps, AHUs and FCUs.
- Maintain and repair commercial heating systems and associated HVAC equipment.
- Carry out minor alterations and installations within your technical competence and in accordance with current specifications.
- Attend planned store visits to complete PPM, reactive works and minor repairs.
- Identify faults and diagnose issues with plant and machinery.
- Identify non-repairable faults and promptly advise the HVAC Supervisor, providing recommendations for suitable replacement.
- Order required spares in accordance with company procedures.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and ensure maintenance records are accurately updated.
- Use PDA/CAFM systems to accurately record work completed and provide live job updates.
- Work with company and client colleagues to ensure agreed standards of quality and service are maintained.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures and customer requirements.
- Work professionally at all times and maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Participate in the 24/7 standby rota, 1 week in 4.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications / Experience:
- NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Heating, Ventilation, Mechanical, HVAC or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- ACS Commercial Gas qualifications including COCN, CIGA, CORT, ICPN, CDGA and TPCP1/1A as a minimum.
- ACS Domestic Gas qualifications such as CCN and CENWAT would be desirable but are not essential.
- City & Guilds 2079-1 F-Gas Category 1 would be desirable.
- City & Guilds 7671 18th Edition would be desirable.
- Previous experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance within a retail environment is advantageous.
- Experience working with commercial heating and HVAC systems.
- Experience using PDA/CAFM systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work at height and in confined spaces.
- Flexible approach to participate in the 24/7 standby rota.
Salary / Package:
- £48,427 basic salary + £2,535 standby payment = £50,962 total.
- Monday to Friday - 45 hours per week.
- Standby - 1 week in 4.
- Overtime.
- Travel time paid after the first 30 minutes each way.
