Salary: Up to £45k | Fully Remote (within 2hrs of Central London) | Building Services Consultancy

Plenty of fire engineers spend their days checking someone else's design against a standard and signing it off. This is the other kind of role. A fast-growing consultancy is building out its fire function properly, and they want an intermediate fire engineer who would rather write the strategy than tick the box.

You'd be joining a fully remote building services consultancy that has gone from a handful of people to sixteen in under two years, with 17 live projects across data centres, residential, commercial, retail, healthcare and education. They are even building a data centre of their own, so the project mix is anything but repetitive.

The Role

  • Write fire strategies for both existing buildings and new developments
  • Survey existing structures and produce fire risk assessments
  • Work to the relevant fire standards and approved documents across a varied project mix
  • Support your strategies with evidence-based fire modelling rather than relying purely on standards-based justification
  • Join two dedicated fire engineers, with senior leadership also contributing to the fire work
  • Occasional site visits (roughly monthly), with everything else done remotely

About You

  • Hands-on active fire engineering experience, not just passive or sign-off work
  • Comfortable using fire modelling software to back up your strategy decisions
  • Good working knowledge of Approved Document B and the wider fire standards
  • Confident surveying buildings and writing up risk assessments
  • Happy working independently while being part of a small, close team

The Business

A UK-based consultancy bringing together data analytics, sustainability and engineering to improve how buildings perform. Remote working is the default rather than a perk, with a full home office shipped to you, training and professional fees covered, and a hot-desk option for anyone who wants one. The team works across nearly every sector, has been recognised publicly for innovation, and takes the technical work seriously without taking itself too seriously.

Calibre Search promote equality in the workplace and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified candidates regardless of their sex, race, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age. We act as both an employment agency and employment business.
