An award-winning, employee-owned Consultancy with an outstanding reputation in environmental engineering and infrastructure is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer to join its growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer who wants to work on projects that genuinely make a difference. Rather than traditional development infrastructure, you'll be delivering flood risk management schemes, river restoration projects, natural flood management initiatives, environmental improvements and wider infrastructure programmes that help build long-term resilience to climate change.
The role offers the chance to work alongside specialists in hydrology, ecology, geomorphology and digital engineering, providing a truly multidisciplinary environment unlike most Consultancies. The successful candidate will take ownership of the technical delivery of a broad range of projects from early feasibility and appraisal through to detailed design and construction support. Depending on your level, you'll lead project teams, provide technical guidance, mentor junior engineers and help shape the continued growth of the engineering capability within the business. You'll also have the opportunity to develop long-term client relationships and contribute to winning new work across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects.
Projects are delivered for organisations including government agencies, water companies, local authorities, environmental bodies and charitable trusts, giving you exposure to technically challenging work that has a lasting environmental and social impact.
To be considered, you'll ideally have:
- A degree in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Experience delivering civil engineering projects through design and construction
- Strong project leadership and technical delivery skills
- Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers (Senior/Principal level)
- Chartered status, or be actively working towards ICE or IStructE accreditation
- A passion for sustainable engineering and environmental improvement
- A full UK driving licence
In return, you'll be joining an independent, employee-owned Consultancy that places a genuine emphasis on long-term career development rather than short-term targets. You'll work within a collaborative culture where technical excellence is recognised, ideas are encouraged and progression is based on ability rather than hierarchy. The business invests heavily in professional development, supports flexible and hybrid working, and offers both full and part-time opportunities to suit individual circumstances.
If you're looking to move away from repetitive development infrastructure work and into projects that combine technical engineering with positive environmental impact, this is an opportunity well worth exploring.
