Role Summary
Principal Civil Engineer – South Leeds – will lead technically challenging infrastructure projects for a highly respected multi‑disciplinary Engineering Consultancy. The successful candidate will take ownership from feasibility through planning, detailed design and construction, while mentoring Engineers and strengthening client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Own projects from initial feasibility through delivery, ensuring compliance with programme, budget and technical standards.
- Produce and review technical reports, calculations and drawings.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and ensure effective collaboration with clients, architects, planners, structural engineers, Local Authorities and statutory bodies.
- Lead the design of highways, drainage, external works, levels, earthworks, utilities coordination, SuDS and flood mitigation solutions.
- Apply knowledge of Section38, Section278, Section104 and Section185 agreements as well as the wider development approval process to deliver practical, commercially aware solutions.
- Provide leadership through mentorship, design reviews, quality assurance and junior staff development.
- Develop and maintain long‑term client relationships, identify repeat‑business opportunities and support the growth of the Civil Engineering discipline.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering.
- Significant experience delivering highways and drainage infrastructure projects in a UK consultancy environment.
- Strong technical understanding of current UK design standards and comfort managing projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D and drainage design software such as InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage is advantageous.
- Chartered status or active pursuit of Chartered status is welcomed.
- Knowledge of Section38, Section278, Section104 and Section185 agreements and the wider development approval process.
