An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Project Manager to join a growing and highly regarded project management consultancy delivering a diverse portfolio of construction projects across Yorkshire and the wider North of England. Working with a strong pipeline of work across the healthcare sector, this role will provide the opportunity to support the delivery of complex and high-quality projects within hospitals, clinical environments and wider healthcare estates. You will work alongside experienced Project Managers and Directors, gaining valuable exposure across the full project lifecycle from inception through to completion. This is an ideal opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager looking to develop their career within a consultancy environment, working on projects that make a genuine difference to communities and end users.

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the successful delivery of healthcare and public sector projects, working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and wider project teams. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of healthcare construction projects through all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Assisting Senior Project Managers with project planning, coordination and reporting.
  • Supporting the management of programmes, budgets, risks and project milestones.
  • Attending client, consultant and contractor meetings, preparing actions and progress updates.
  • Assisting with procurement processes, tender reviews and contract administration.
  • Supporting change control, risk management and project governance procedures.
  • Monitoring project performance against agreed time, cost and quality objectives.
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation and reporting systems.
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement across healthcare clients, design teams and delivery partners.
  • Assisting with the successful handover and completion of projects within live operational environments.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Experience supporting construction or property projects within a consultancy, contractor or client-side environment.
  • Exposure to healthcare, education, public sector or complex refurbishment projects would be advantageous.
  • A degree or relevant qualification in Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage with clients and project stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach with a genuine desire to progress within project management.
  • Good understanding of construction delivery processes, project controls and contract administration.
  • Experience working on healthcare schemes including hospitals, clinical facilities, NHS estates or healthcare refurbishments.
  • Knowledge of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract.
  • Experience working within live environments where programme, safety and stakeholder management are critical.
  • Working towards a professional qualification with APM, RICS, CIOB or ICE.
