An established Civil and Infrastructure Consultancy in Central Leeds is looking for a Highway and Drainage Design Engineer to join its expanding team. The practice delivers a wide range of development infrastructure projects throughout the UK, providing expert design services for highways, drainage and external works. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Civil Engineer who enjoys the technical side of design, values collaboration and wants to progress within a respected consultancy environment.
Responsibilities
- Working as part of a dedicated design team, you will take responsibility for delivering adoptable infrastructure schemes, including the design and coordination of works under Section 278, Section 38 and Section 104 agreements.
- You will produce detailed highway and drainage designs, develop layouts for new roads, junctions and sewers, and prepare technical submissions for approval by local authorities and statutory bodies.
- The role offers the chance to work closely with clients, architects, contractors and adopting authorities, managing projects from initial feasibility through to construction support.
Qualifications
- To succeed in this role, you should bring experience in the design and delivery of highway and drainage infrastructure projects, ideally within a consultancy setting.
- You should have a sound understanding of design standards and adoption processes and be confident using industry software such as AutoCAD, PDS and MicroDrainage.
- You will hold a degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification and either be chartered or working towards professional registration.
- Strong communication, organisational and technical writing skills are essential, as is the ability to manage your workload and collaborate effectively within a multi‑disciplinary environment.
