A well-established and highly regarded Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy is seeking to appoint a Senior Design Engineer to strengthen its infrastructure design capability in Harrogate. Owing to sustained business growth and the recent award of several substantial residential and commercial development projects, the Consultancy is expanding its technical team to support an increasing and diverse workload. This appointment represents a significant opportunity to join the organisation at a pivotal stage in its continued development.
The Consultancy delivers comprehensive civil infrastructure solutions across a broad range of development-led projects, providing expertise in highways and drainage design, earthworks modelling, flood risk assessment and external works design. Working collaboratively with developers, architects, contractors and statutory authorities, the business is recognised for producing technically robust, compliant and commercially considered engineering solutions from initial concept through to construction.
Responsibilities
- Assume a key technical role within the infrastructure team, taking responsibility for the delivery and coordination of complex civil engineering design packages.
- Lead the design process for highways, drainage, earthworks and hardstanding areas, ensuring all outputs meet relevant standards, approval requirements and best practice guidance.
- Engage in close liaison with local authorities, statutory undertakers and clients, participate in design meetings and contribute to project strategy and programme.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the team, supporting the ongoing development of internal capability and design quality.
Qualifications
- High level of proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D for infrastructure modelling and detailed design.
- Substantial experience in drainage and flow analysis using software such as MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage or Causeway Flow.
- Experience in the preparation and delivery of adoptable infrastructure designs, including S38, S104 and S278 agreements, is highly desirable.
- Thorough understanding of drainage networks, surface water management strategies and sustainable drainage systems is essential.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and proven experience within a Consultancy environment.
- Chartered Civil Engineers, or those actively working towards chartered status with ICE or IStructE, are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound technical judgement, strong organisational ability and a professional, methodical approach to project delivery.
