Description

Civil Engineer – Flood and Coastal Projects
Peterborough
£30-40k

Are you a Civil Engineer?

Would you like to progress your career at an exciting and expanding company?

To meet our clients growing business needs and future development aspirations, we are looking for a Civil Engineer to be part of their growing engineering teams located in their Peterborough office. The successful candidate will have been in the industry for several years and will lead and support technical work for civil/structural engineering problems within a fluvial and/or coastal environment.

You will report to a Senior Engineer and will contribute to the delivery of a range of engineering and environmental improvement projects, including options appraisal, concept design and detailed scheme design. You would be joining a dynamic team in Peterborough who are enjoying project success which has been recognised by industry awards.

The work will involve a mixture of traditional consultancy appraisal and design, as well as design and build work alongside their Joint Venture partner who are one of the biggest contractors in the region. They are looking for candidates with sound technical knowledge, a positive and proactive mindset and the motivation to work proactively within the construction teams in a collaborative way with their Clients.

Candidates should have experience of working in consultancy in the UK and for one of their main clients, the Environment Agency, would be advantageous. They should have a strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, geotechnical, hydraulic design and other aspects related to river and coastal flood risk management. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate experience of project or task management, achieving programme, controlling budgets and delivering work to the required quality standards

You must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision to a high technical standard. Knowledge of relevant design codes and software packages is essential as you will be required to generate, check and review engineering calculations within a wide variety of projects including but not limited to drainage and structural. Excellent teamworking and communication skills are required, and you may have to work with staff outside of the core team based in Peterborough. Self-motivation and a high degree of organisation are also considered key attributes.

For this role professional membership of a recognised professional institution such as the ICE or CIWEM is preferred and a degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering is essential. My client has an approved training scheme with the Institution of Civil Engineers and has personnel who can support your progress to Chartership. Candidates should have proven experience of UK consultancy work and/ or design and build experience.

A full UK drivers license is required for this role.
