A leading multidisciplinary Consultancy is seeking an experienced and motivated Engineer to join its York office, with a primary focus on flood risk and drainage design. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious professional to contribute to a range of technically challenging and environmentally significant projects, working within a well-established and respected team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of detailed flood risk assessments, surface water management plans, and sustainable drainage strategies for a variety of public and private sector developments. The role will involve the design of drainage networks and hydraulic modelling, the preparation of technical reports and drawings, and close liaison with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies, and multidisciplinary project teams. The position will suit an individual with a strong understanding of environmental and planning legislation, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), and current industry standards. Applicants should hold a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and possess demonstrable experience in flood risk and drainage design, ideally within a Consultancy environment. Proficiency in relevant design software such as InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage and Civil 3D is essential, together with the ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and deliver work to agreed timescales and budgets. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound technical judgement, and a methodical, professional approach are key requirements.
