An established and fast-growing Building Services consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Associate Director to support the next stage of its growth. Founded around 4 years ago, the business has expanded quickly while maintaining a collaborative, non-corporate culture built around quality, trust and long-term relationships.
With offices in Oxford and London and around 40 engineers across the practice, the consultancy operates as one integrated team, sharing a single project list across both offices and allocating work based on capability rather than geography. With plans to open additional offices in place, this role offers a genuine opportunity to influence the direction and structure of the business.
The company is particularly well regarded within technically demanding sectors and is selective about the work it takes on to ensure standards and culture remain high.
Project Sectors:- Higher Education (Universities and Colleges)
- Science and Research Facilities
- Decarbonisation and Net Zero Schemes
- Passivhaus Projects
- Commercial, Healthcare, Heritage and Residential
As Mechanical Associate Director, you will play a key role in leading project delivery, supporting the mechanical team and maintaining strong client relationships. You will act as a senior technical authority within the business while contributing to work winning and long-term growth. While business development forms part of the role, the consultancy is careful to align incentives with culture, quality and project suitability rather than purely financial targets.
This position would suit an established Associate Director or a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer who is ready to step into a leadership role within a growing consultancy.
Requirements:- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
- Extensive experience within a UK Building Services consultancy
- Proven ability to deliver and manage complex mechanical projects
- Strong client-facing, leadership and mentoring capability
- Sound knowledge of CIBSE guidance and best practice
- Experience using Revit MEP, Hevacomp and AutoCAD (preferred)
- Right to work in the UK without sponsorship
- Salary from £85,000+, negotiable depending on experience and impact
- 9-day fortnight (every other Friday off)
- 8% employer pension contribution
- Highly flexible hybrid and remote working
- EV salary sacrifice scheme
- Private GP access and lifestyle benefits (e.g. cinema discounts)
- Bonus or incentive structure linked to work winning
- Future share options under consideration
This is a rare opportunity to join a consultancy at a senior level where you will have real influence over people, projects and future expansion, supported by an experienced and approachable leadership team.
