Contract Manager – Genuine Route to Contracts Director
North West | Permanent | £80000 - £87000 + Package
Working with a well-established contractor operating across the North West, we're looking for an experienced Contract Manager to take ownership of live schemes and grow into a Contracts Director position over time. This is a business that invests in its people, and this role has been structured with a clear, supported progression path in mind — not just talked about at interview.
THE ROLE
You'll take full responsibility for the safe, profitable, and on-programme delivery of your contracts, from award through to final account. You'll be the key point of contact for clients, subcontractors and your site teams, reporting into senior management on progress, budgets and forecasts.
You'll typically be running up to 3 individual contracts at any one time, ranging in value from £500k to £6 million, with a combined portfolio of circa £15 million.
• Manage programme, budget and resource planning across your contracts
• Lead site teams and subcontractors, keeping quality, safety and compliance on track
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain
• Spot risk early and deal with it before it becomes a problem
• Support tender and pre-construction activity where needed
• Mentor site staff coming up through the business
• Report regularly to senior management on progress and financial performance
ABOUT YOU
• Proven experience as a Contract Manager, Senior Site Manager or similar
• Strong commercial awareness with a track record of delivering to budget
• SMSTS, CSCS and relevant construction management qualifications
• Full UK driving licence, happy to travel to sites across the North West
• Ambitious — genuinely wants the next step up to Contracts Director
