A well-regarded, independently run building services consultancy is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to join their London team. The practice has two offices (London and Surrey) and has been on a sustained growth trajectory, with a strong pipeline of project wins driving the need for senior-level expertise across both locations.
The Role
As an Associate Electrical Engineer you'll take a lead role across a varied portfolio of projects, working closely with clients, architects, and the wider design team from early concept through to technical delivery. The project mix is genuinely broad consisting of commercial refurbishments, residential schemes, hotel and later living developments, mixed-use buildings, and increasingly, low-carbon and retrofit-focused work including heat pump installations and the stripping out of legacy systems in favour of more efficient alternatives.
You'll be joining an established engineering team where the expectation is that you can run commissions with confidence, support the development of more junior engineers, and engage directly with clients in a consultancy setting.
About You
- Chartered or working towards Chartership, with Associate-level experience in building services electrical design
- Comfortable leading projects and managing client relationships
- Strong technical background across commercial, residential, or mixed-use sectors
- A collaborative approach - the teams here are close-knit and the culture is quality-driven rather than volume-driven
- Able to commute to or work from South Bank, London, with flexibility around hybrid working
The Business
This consultancy has built its reputation through consistently high-quality work and long-term client relationships rather than rapid expansion. Their people tend to stay, average tenure across the practice is five years or more, and they're selective about who they bring in as a result. Growth at the moment is being fuelled by strong project wins across industrial, commercial retrofit, and London developer-led schemes, with sustainability and low-carbon design increasingly central to their offer.
There's a real emphasis on culture fit here - they want engineers who are technically excellent but also personable and able to hold their own in client-facing situations.
Salary up to £80,000 depending on experience, with flexibility to pay the right market rate for the right person.
