An international consultancy are currently recruiting for a Chartered Senior Bridge Engineer to join their large Manchester office which is currently 74 strong that covers many engineering disciplines. Within this recruitment drive they are looking for Chartered Senior Bridge Engineers with technical design and project leadership experience to join their large Bridge Structures team. They can offer a huge variety of Bridge Projects on Frameworks such as National Highways Major Projects, the National Highways SDF Framework and many Local Authority new bridge and maintenance schemes for you to work on. They also currently have a major project, the Loon Gorge which has 11 new bridge structures and you may also receive the opportunity to work on Rail Bridge Structures with Network Rail.
As a Senior Bridge Engineer you would take a pivotal role within the detailed design of these Bridge Structures using software such as MIDAS, LUSAS and Superstress. You will also be given your own small team of engineers and technicians to lead on your own schemes and you will be expected to manage and deliver the technical output of the team.
Responsibilities:
- Undertaking services within an engineering environment which may include (but are not limited to); scheme investigation, site and structure inspections, data collection and analysis, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, preparation of tender documents, works/construction inspection and supervision to progress scheme design, development and construction.
- Managing the delivery of technical outputs of project teams.
- Acting as Lead Designer on work undertaken by the team.
- Contributing to technical excellence and innovation across the team.
- Contributing to Value Management / Engineering to support Team Leaders and Project Managers in ensuring that schemes are delivered with innovation.
- Communicate, deliver and implement improvements to SHEQ within all aspects of projects.
- Carrying out the checking and certifying of design deliverables (including drawings specifications, professional skill and care certificates, reports and contract documents), and authorising where appropriate.
- Providing technical input to brief responses and proposals for new work.
- Ensuring that delivery is achieved in accordance with the company's management systems including Health and Safety, project and risk management.
- Developing the talent within the team by coaching and mentoring Engineers, Technicians and Graduates and supporting their technical career development aspirations.
- Actively promoting Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health.
