If you're an experienced Structural Revit Technician looking for somewhere you can work on genuinely interesting projects, alongside a sizeable multidisciplinary team, while still having room to develop your career, this is well worth a look.

I'm working with a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that is looking to strengthen its Building Structures team in Bristol with the appointment of a Senior Structural Revit Technician. The Bristol team works across a broad mixture of sectors and projects, giving you the opportunity to get involved from early design stages right through to construction.

You'll be working closely with Structural Engineers, Technicians and other disciplines, producing high-quality Revit models and structural drawings rather than simply being handed mark-ups and left to churn through them. There's a strong emphasis on collaboration here. They want someone who understands the engineering behind what they are drawing, can spot potential problems before they reach site and is comfortable discussing solutions with the wider design team.

You'll take responsibility for producing accurate 2D structural drawings and 3D Revit models from engineering information and sketches, working across structures incorporating steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry. Your work will include structural steelwork drawings, reinforced concrete drawings, RC detailing and schedules, alongside maintaining models and information throughout the different stages of a project.

You'll also work within established BIM procedures and project BEPs, using common data environments to manage and coordinate project information. At Senior level, there's an opportunity to take a bit more ownership too. You'll work closely with the Engineers to resolve design and detailing challenges, liaise with BIM Coordinators where required and help mentor and develop Apprentice and Junior Technicians coming through the team.

Experience with CADS RC would be useful, although it isn't essential, and there is also scope to get involved with automation and digital processes such as Dynamo if that's an area you're interested in developing. The key requirement is strong Revit experience within Building Structures. You'll ideally have worked within a UK engineering consultancy or similar environment and be comfortable producing structural models and drawings across a variety of materials and project types.

A good understanding of BIM delivery, common data environments and UK BIM requirements will be important, as will the ability to understand the wider engineering context behind your models. You don't need to tick absolutely every box. They're interested in someone with a solid technical foundation who wants to continue developing rather than someone who thinks they already know everything.

The role is based at a modern engineering hub in Aztec West, making it particularly convenient if you live around North Bristol, South Gloucestershire or commute in from further afield. It's close to Junction 16 of the M5 and the M4/M5 interchange, giving straightforward access from Bristol, South Wales and the wider South West, while Bristol Parkway provides the nearest major rail connection.

The building itself was designed around modern, sustainable working and includes flexible working areas and spaces for teams to collaborate away from their desks. There's also a hybrid and flexible working culture, so you can combine time with the Bristol team with working from home rather than being tied to the office five days a week.

This is a good opportunity for somebody who enjoys the technical side of Structural Engineering but wants more than just another Revit production role. You'll have exposure to multidisciplinary projects, experienced Engineers and BIM specialists around you, opportunities to mentor others and a clear route to continue progressing technically and professionally. There's a strong package of benefits alongside the salary, including flexible working, holiday options and ongoing training and professional development.
