About the Role
Join the Net Zero Energy Team of an international practice and play a pivotal role in transforming the UK’s energy landscape. This flexible opportunity is open to part-time candidates (minimum three days per week) and offers hybrid working, enabling collaboration both online and in-person.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead and deliver critical projects in hydrogen production and storage, industrial decarbonisation, and power generation (including gas, biomass, hydro, and nuclear). Your expertise will drive feasibility studies, detailed designs, site surveys, and design verifications. You may also undertake site-based secondments across a diverse portfolio of energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct feasibility studies, detailed design, and design verifications.
- Perform pipe stress analysis, equipment specification, and engineering specification writing.
- Carry out site surveys and provide operational support.
- Undertake high-temperature component life assessments and fitness-for-service evaluations.
- Execute pressure part design calculations and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
- Design plant layouts, pipeline routing, and oversee deliverables to BS/EN standards (e.g., 13480, 12952, 13445, ASME B31.x).
About You:
- Chartered (or near Chartered) Mechanical Engineer.
- Proven experience in hydrogen production, storage, and industrial decarbonisation.
- Familiarity with BS/EN standards and their application in energy projects.
- Strong technical skills across pipeline design, plant layout, and stress analysis.
