An independent MEP and sustainability consultancy with multiple offices is looking to appoint a Principal Electrical Engineer to strengthen their electrical team in London. The business has grown significantly over recent years and now operates with a combined team of around 40 engineers across both offices, working from a single shared project list and delegating across teams based on skillset. Their work spans a strong portfolio of education, science and research, and decarbonisation projects – sectors they are selective about and genuinely passionate in. Net zero is central to the practice's identity, not just a service line. With further expansion planned, this is a well-timed opportunity to join a business that is ambitious, growing, and deeply committed to doing things differently from traditional consultancy.

The Role

  • Lead electrical design across a range of building services projects from early concept through to completion.
  • Produce and review technical deliverables including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams, clients, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers within the electrical team.
  • Contribute to the practice's low-carbon and net-zero design approach across all projects.

About You

  • Demonstrable experience at Principal or Senior Electrical Engineer level within a building services consultancy.
  • Strong technical grounding across LV power distribution, lighting design, fire alarms, and general building services electrical systems.
  • Experience within education, science and research, or similarly complex sectors is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in relevant design tools – Amtech, Dialux, and Revit/BIM (beneficial).
  • Chartered or working towards chartership with IET or CIBSE.
  • Collaborative approach and genuine alignment with a sustainability-led, people-first culture.

Benefits

  • Independent MEP and sustainability consultancy operating across the South West.
  • Selective project pipeline across education, science and research, and decarbonisation.
  • Single shared project list across both offices – genuine integration, not siloed teams.
  • 9-day fortnight, 8% employer pension, EV salary sacrifice scheme.
  • Share options currently being introduced.
  • Lifestyle benefits including GP appointments, cinema discounts and more.
  • Monthly one-to-ones focused on development, wellbeing, and workload.
  • Flexible and hybrid working supported.
  • Open-door culture with direct access to all three founding directors.

Calibre Search promotes equality in the workplace and welcomes applications from all suitably skilled or qualified candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age.
