We are a well‑established, employee‑owned engineering consultancy located in central Newcastle seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to become a key technical figure within our growing office.
The role involves overseeing delivery across a broad range of civil engineering projects—from appraisal and outline design through to detailed design and construction support—across infrastructure, flood risk, environmental and water‑related schemes that focus on resilience, community protection and long‑term sustainability. You will manage multidisciplinary projects, maintain client relationships, and support the development of junior engineers.
Our hybrid working model allows no more than three days a week in the office, with a culture built around trust, flexibility and senior engineer autonomy.
Responsibilities- Lead technical delivery on civil engineering projects from brief to completion.
- Provide expert guidance to project teams and ensure high‑quality outcomes.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering professional growth.
- Contribute to strategic growth plans and help shape the future direction of the Newcastle office.
- Maintain strong client relationships and support new business development.
- Chartered Civil Engineer (or equivalent) with comprehensive technical capability across civil engineering design and project delivery.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex projects.
- Strong client‑relationship management skills and ability to support junior staff.
- Demonstrated confidence and knowledge to provide technical guidance across all project stages.
