An independent MEP and sustainability consultancy with multiple offices is looking to appoint a Principal Electrical Engineer to strengthen their electrical team in London. The business has grown significantly over recent years and now operates with a combined team of around 40 engineers across both offices, working from a single shared project list and delegating across teams based on skillset. Their work spans a strong portfolio of education, science and research, and decarbonisation projects – sectors they are selective about and genuinely passionate in. Net zero is central to the practice's identity, not just a service line. With further expansion planned, this is a well‐timed opportunity to join a business that is ambitious, growing, and deeply committed to doing things differently from traditional consultancy.

The Role

  • Lead electrical design across a range of building services projects from early concept through to completion.
  • Produce and review technical deliverables including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams, clients, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers within the electrical team.
  • Contribute to the practice's low‐carbon and net‐zero design approach across all projects.

About You

  • Demonstrable experience at Principal or Senior Electrical Engineer level within a building services consultancy.
  • Strong technical grounding across LV power distribution, lighting design, fire alarms, and general building services electrical systems.
  • Experience within education, science and research, or similarly complex sectors is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in relevant design tools – Amtech, Dialux, and Revit/BIM (beneficial).
  • Chartered or working towards chartership with IET or CIBSE.
  • Collaborative approach and genuine alignment with a sustainability‐led, people‐first culture.

Benefits

  • Independent MEP and sustainability consultancy operating across the South West.
  • Selective project pipeline across education, science and research, and decarbonisation.
  • Single shared project list across both offices – genuine integration, not siloed teams.
  • 9‐day fortnight, 8% employer pension, EV salary sacrifice scheme.
  • Share options currently being introduced.
  • Lifestyle benefits including GP appointments, cinema discounts and more.
  • Monthly one‐to‐ones focused on development, wellbeing, and workload.
  • Flexible and hybrid working supported.
  • Open‐door culture with direct access to all three founding directors.
