A well-established multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking an Assistant Structural Engineer with around 2 years experience to join its growing team in Hertfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer with some consultancy experience to develop their technical skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The Opportunity
You will be joining a dynamic structural engineering team delivering projects across a range of sectors including commercial, residential, energy, and R&D. Working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will gain exposure to both new build and refurbishment projects, supporting your progression towards Chartership.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out structural design and analysis in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
- Use industry software such as Tekla and TEDDS
- Collaborate with architects, clients, and multidisciplinary teams
- Support project coordination, planning, and reporting
- Attend meetings and liaise with stakeholders
- Conduct site visits and ensure compliance with design and safety standards
- Contribute to innovative design solutions and problem-solving
About You
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent)
- Ideally 2+ years' experience within a structural consultancy
- Experience designing in common building materials
- Understanding of geotechnics and foundation design
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Proactive, self-motivated, and keen to develop professionally
- Working towards Chartership (IStructE or ICE)
