As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced HVAC Design Engineer to become an integral member of our design team.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior HVAC Design Engineer who takes pride in producing accurate, coordinated and practical HVAC designs.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who is capable of working independently with minimal supervision and who enjoys taking ownership of projects from concept through to completed design.

The successful candidate will specialise in the design of air conditioning, ventilation and MVHR systems for residential projects in the UK.

You will be responsible for producing complete HVAC designs, from initial heat gain calculations and equipment selection through to fully coordinated Auto CAD drawings, ductwork layouts and equipment schedules.

Working closely with our UK-based team, you will be expected to interpret architectural and structural drawings, coordinate mechanical services within the building layout, and deliver designs that are practical to install and compliant with relevant UK standards and industry best practice.

This is a fully remote position based in the Philippines.

The successful candidate must be available to work UK business hours, have excellent spoken and written English, and be comfortable communicating professionally with our UK team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out heat gain and cooling load calculations for residential properties.
  • Design complete air conditioning systems, primarily using Daikin VRV/VRF equipment.
  • Select appropriate indoor and outdoor units based on project requirements.
  • Design Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) systems.
  • Design extract and fresh air ventilation systems.
  • Design ductwork systems, including sizing, routing and pressure loss calculations.
  • Size and select air grilles, diffusers and other air distribution components.
  • Produce, amend and coordinate mechanical services drawings using Auto CAD.
  • Modify and update existing DWG drawings supplied by architects and consultants.
  • Produce equipment schedules and design documentation.
  • Coordinate HVAC services with architectural and structural drawings.
  • Review floor plans, sections and elevations to ensure services are fully integrated within the building design.
  • Identify clashes and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Liaise with the UK-based design team regarding project coordination and technical queries.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant UK Building Regulations, British Standards and industry best practice.

Essential Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Minimum of three years' experience designing HVAC or building mechanical services.
  • Strong experience designing residential air conditioning and ventilation systems.
  • Excellent understanding of Daikin VRV/VRF systems.
  • Strong experience designing MVHR systems.
  • Experience carrying out heat gain and cooling load calculations.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC design principles and psychrometrics.
  • Experience designing ductwork systems.
  • Experience sizing and selecting air grilles and diffusers.
  • High level of proficiency in Auto CAD.
  • Ability to produce clear, accurate and coordinated engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of building structures and construction methods.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, floor plans, sections and elevations.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, with the confidence to communicate professionally with UK colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication with a remote team.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience designing HVAC systems in accordance with UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.
  • Experience working on high-end residential properties.
  • Familiarity with BIM or Revit (advantageous but not essential).
